md Spencer Johnson“Integrity is telling myself the truth and honesty is telling the truth to other people.”
– Spencer Johnson

The world we live in has dictated different paths for you and me. Some of us are able to live and work in Uganda; others have opted to leave home to earn a living outside the country. In the same way, life has also dictated to us our responsibilities especially because as a society, we are deeply steeped in family collectiveness. While we live or work away from home, we have obligations towards our family’s well being back in Uganda, or at the very least, we are expected to be active participants in developing the country and creating wealth at home.

The challenge for us who live and work in different parts of the world is how to fulfill our responsibilities effectively and efficiently. The solution to this, though simple, has unfortunately come at a cost. We have often been taken advantage of by the people we have entrusted to represent us, leaving us skeptical and frustrated. What is most disappointing is that the trusted individuals have been a relative or close friend, who has the advantage of easy access to our resources in their care, and who in some cases may disregard the need to provide us with accurate or any form of accountability.

I have set up “Service on Wings” under Margin Call Limited as a service that could provide solutions to the problem described. There is after all great wisdom in keeping family relationships and business transactions in societies like Uganda separate. I assert with conviction Margin Call’s passion for excellence and it’s commitment as a company to do the right thing at all times. We welcome questions, feedback and even scrutiny of our processes from potential and existing customers/clients. I am a strong advocate of the belief that profit in money or power is temporary, but profit in a network of people who trust you as a person of integrity is everlasting.

I echo the cries of my father, who lived abroad, searching for someone he could entrust with money to buy the necessary materials for the house he was building. Unfortunately for him, I was young and still in school and could not be of any help. This cry is echoed among other relatives who have lost millions of shillings sending money home for similar projects. Conversations with several Ugandans that I meet on my visits abroad, revolve around the inability to do anything substantive unless one is physically present in the country.

We have been in your shoes, in fact all Margin Call directors have lived and worked abroad at some point. We hope to earn your trust as we too have had our fair share of negative and troubling experiences. We have however come to the crossroad in our experiences, and I am optimistic that our latest innovation – Margin Call’s “Service on Wings” idea, is that solution and lamp illuminating the road to take to overcome the challenge and frustrations encountered when dealing family and friends at home (in Uganda). Regardless of whether you are a friend, relative, existing or new client, we will attend to each of you in a professional manner.

I appreciate visiting our website, and as we embark on this journey of trust, I look forward to our future collaboration. In words of Albert Einstein…,

“Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters”

Very Sincerely,
Macdavid Mugga,
